Shoilo Propat Waterfall

Shoilo Propat (Sailo Propat or Milanchari Falls) is one of the most accessible and popular natural attractions in Bandarban district, located at Milanchari along the Chimbuk road, just 8 kilometres from Bandarban town centre. The waterfall is formed by a swift, crystal-clear mountain stream cascading over a series of sculpted black stone boulders and natural rock terraces.

The cool, unpolluted water originates high in the surrounding hill ridges, flowing vigorously across smooth rock surfaces that create gentle rapids and shallow pools. Visitors love to step onto the firm rocky banks, dip their feet in the refreshing mountain waters, and relax amidst the serene green hill forest backdrop.

Adjacent to the waterfall is a vibrant indigenous handicraft and fruit market operated by the local Bawm tribal community. The stalls are stocked with colorful handloom shawls, traditional woven fabrics, bamboo and wooden crafts, organic hill spices, and delicious wild fruits including mountain bananas, sweet pineapples, and fresh papayas.

Because of its prime location on the main sightseeing corridor leading to Nilgiri, Chimbuk Hill, and Nilachal, Shoilo Propat is an essential and delightful stop on every traveler's Bandarban holiday.

The waterfall has served as a vital freshwater source and bathing site for the neighbouring Bawm indigenous villages of Milanchari for over a century.

During the construction of the scenic Chimbuk-Bandarban highway, the natural cascade became a favoured roadside rest area for travelers crossing the hill tracts.

The site has since been developed with paved viewing steps, safety railings, and an organized indigenous artisan market supporting community livelihoods.

September to November: Post-monsoon; lush green surroundings and vibrant water flow.

December to February: Cool, pleasant winter weather; perfect for browsing handicrafts and leisurely photos.

June to August: Monsoon season; water volume is heavy and energetic, but rocks become slippery.
