Jangalbari Fort (Isa Khaner Bari) is a monumentally significant historical site situated on the banks of the picturesque Narasunda River in Karimganj upazila, just 6 kilometres from Kishoreganj town. In the late 16th century, after the fall of Sonargaon to the Mughals, the celebrated Baro-Bhuiyan leader Isa Khan established his secondary capital and fortress here to continue his resistance against Mughal imperial expansion.
The fort was strategically designed as a water citadel, fortified by a deep defensive moat (Khai) on three sides with the Narasunda River protecting the western flank. Within the complex lie the evocative brick ruins of the royal residential palace (Andar Mahal), the Darbar Hall (court chamber), a historic single-domed Mughal mosque, and the ancestral cemetery of Isa Khan's descendants.
The Darbar Hall features thick arched brick walls, decorative plaster niches, and elevated verandas where administrative councils were once convened. Nearby stands the historic mosque, still in active use, displaying classic Mughal plaster domes and corner minarets.
