Overview

Mayabini Lake (Mayabini Eco Resort & Island Park) is a captivating eco-tourism destination located in Kangchari village of Panchhari upazila in Khagrachari district, approximately 23 kilometres north of Khagrachari town. Spanning across 40 acres of undulating green hill country, this serene natural lake is famous for its multiple small green islands rising gracefully above the calm waters.

The park was thoughtfully developed by the local administration to create an enchanting family leisure sanctuary. Wooden footbridges connect the lakeshore to several of the lush islands, which are outfitted with thatched resting gazebos, swinging hammocks, colorful flowering shrubs, and observation benches shaded by mahogany and acacia trees.

Visitors can rent colorful pedal boats to glide peacefully around the islands, watching kingfishers dive for fish and white egrets roosting on the grassy shores. The surrounding hillocks provide elevated viewpoints overlooking the entire water basin, where cool mountain breezes rustle through the trees.

Combining rural tranquility, scenic island walks, and family-friendly recreation, Mayabini Lake is a wonderful off-the-beaten-path escape in the northern Chittagong Hill Tracts.

History & Culture

Originally a natural seasonal water basin between the Kangchari hillocks, the lake was systematically dammed and developed into a permanent eco-park in 2017.

The project provided sustainable employment opportunities for local indigenous youth and promoted community-led eco-tourism in the tranquil border upazila of Panchhari.

It has quickly become one of the favourite picnic and day-out destinations for locals and visitors to Khagrachari.
