Khaiyachara Waterfall

Khaiyachara Waterfall is widely considered one of the most beautiful and expansive waterfalls in Bangladesh. Located in the Mirsharai upazila near Sitakunda, Chattogram, it is famous for its unique structure featuring nine distinct steps or cascades. The waterfall remains hidden deep within verdant, hilly forests, ensuring a serene and wild atmosphere.

The trek to the waterfall is a thrilling adventure. Visitors must hike for about 30 to 45 minutes along a rugged trail, crossing a shallow stream multiple times. While the first tier is easily accessible and features a large, refreshing plunge pool, adventurous trekkers often climb the steep, muddy tracks alongside the falls to discover the upper tiers, each offering its own unique pool and breathtaking view.

Because of its accessibility from the Dhaka-Chattogram highway, Khaiyachara has become incredibly popular for day-trippers and adventure seekers. Whether you are swimming in the cool mountain water or marveling at the sheer scale of the cascades, a visit here provides an unforgettable escape into nature.

Though well-known to local villagers for generations, Khaiyachara Waterfall only gained widespread national attention around 2015 due to the rise of social media and travel vlogging. Before this, the deep forest trails kept it hidden from mainstream tourism.

In 2017, the Government of Bangladesh designated the surrounding area as a protected eco-park site to help preserve the natural habitat of the falls amidst rapidly growing visitor numbers.

Monsoon (July to September): The waterfall is at its most powerful and spectacular, though the trekking trail can be muddy and slippery.

Post-Monsoon (October to November): The perfect balance of clear weather, manageable trails, and strong water flow.

Winter (December to February): The water level drops significantly, sometimes reducing the waterfall to a trickle, making it less impressive.
